What To Expect

Giza Pyramids

This morning, meet your guide in the hotel lobby then go to see the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. Tour inside the most ancient among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that is still preserved to a great extent. According to the best Egyptologists' information, it was the Pyramid of Cheops what is usually known as the Great Pyramid of Giza built as a tomb for an Egyptian Pharaoh named Khufu; construction took between 14 and 20 years and was completed in 2560 BC.

Panoramic View of the Pyramids

Begin your tour with a visit to an amazing spot where you can see all three Pyramids of Giza lined up on the horizon. 3
Pyramid of Menkaure

Built for Pharaoh Menkaure, this is the smallest of the three but comprises a great deal of character. It was originally about 65 meters tall. The lower parts were made out of red granite from Aswan —a material that represents both art and meaning in royal architectural design. One can also see around Menkaure’s complex his queens’ pyramids plus a mortuary temple that shows good evidence on funerary practice as well as family order at that time.

4
Pyramid of Khafre

It is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid of Giza, but appears taller from certain angles due to its higher base. Some of the original cladding stones remain at the top of the pyramid, offering a glimpse into what its once smooth surface looked like. (Wikipedia)

5
Great Pyramid of Giza (Khufu Pyramid)

There shall you gaze at the Great Pyramid, begun by Pharaoh Khufu (or Cheops), built in the 25th century BCE, and see before your very eyes one of the grand architectural achievements of mankind. This colossal structure was supposed to have soared up to nearly 147 meters high and comprised some 2.3 million blocks—limestone and granite—almost perfectly aligned to the four points of the compass. Inside the pyramid is a maze of rooms and hallways with the King’s Room made fully out of stone and the Great Path showing the high level of old builders. Continuous improvements in today’s technology are slowly revealing its secrets; new cosmic-ray muon checks have found a large gap inside that was not known before.

6
Valley Temple of Khafre

Built with huge limestone and red-pink granite blocks, some weighing more than 100 tons, the Valley Temple is an architectural marvel. The inside has a floor made of alabaster. On the walls there used to be statues of Khafre. EgyptToday In ancient times, the temple played a very ritualistic role — most likely by canal, the mummified body of Khafre would be brought here, purified, and prepared for the afterlife. The level of engineering and spirituality is indicated by perfect masonry work and huge monolithic stones; thus, it speaks of that degree of finesse which was inherent in religious practices during the Old Kingdom.

7
Sphinx (Great Sphinx of Giza)

This famous sculpture, made of limestone and showing the body of a lion with a noble human face is one of the most well-known statues in the world. Most likely cut during the rule of Khafre, many believe that it takes on his look meaning strength smarts and his holy help over the Giza Plateau. The Sphinx is about 73 meters long and 20 meters tall. It has suffered from rot and harm over time; its nose is missing which was indeed not small. However, it still stands as a strong symbol of what made ancient Egypt special: its mix of religious and royal power.

8
Grand Egyptian Muesum

This ultra-modern museum now ranks as the biggest in the world devoted to one civilization with tens of thousands of artifacts spanning more than 7,000 years of history. The most spectacular halls are those reserved for Tutankhamun, where the entire collection-all about 5,398 pieces-of King Tut's treasures will be on display. The organization of the museum was done carefully, with galleries set up by both time periods (Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, Greco-Roman) and theme types (Royalty, Society, Beliefs). In the middle of its amazing open space stands the huge 83-ton statue of Ramses II. This strong centerpiece makes a clear link for visitors to Egypt’s kingly past.
